Anyone need a job as a political reporter?

Happy new year everybody! New year, new resolve to post more often. I will try to update this thing on a more than bimonthly basis.

So, I got a notice through my j-school alumni list serv that NY1 is apparently seeking a political reporter. Alleged wife beaters need not apply. Info is below:

NY1 signed on in the fall of 1992 from its newsroom on Manhattan's West 42nd Street. SUMMARY

Anchors nightly New York City political news and interview show Inside City Hall. Assists all day parts with political coverage. Collects, analyzes and shoots information about newsworthy events that relate to New York politics.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES


Anchoring
•Strong news judgment
•Ability to conduct live interviews and moderate debates
•Develops sources and contacts for story development
•Receives assignment or evaluates news leads and news tips to develop story idea
•Gathers and verifies factual information regarding story through interview, observation, and research
•Organizes material, determines emphasis, and writes story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards

Presentation Skills
•Appears on television program when conducting taped or filmed interviews or narration
•Gives live reports from site of event or mobile broadcast unit
•Represents station at other events

Preparation
•Strong knowledge of NYC, politics, events and history
•Ability to cover breaking news for 24 hour news cycle

Other Duties as Assigned

Camera and Field Operations
•Shoots video to illustrate stories
•Edits, or assists in editing, videos for broadcast
•Drives to news locations
•Checks and maintains equipment

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or relevant beat experience.
Experience: At least 4 years previous journalism experience or relevant beat experience required. On-air experience and/or experience covering politics preferred.
